The Ram girls golf team opened the season Thursday, hosting Perry and Des Moines Christian at The Hill in Grand Junction. The temperature was 48 degrees when the meet started.
Des Moines Christian won the meet with 192, followed by Perry at 199 and the Rams at 203.
Low score for the nine holes was 41 by Perry’s Alyssa Kruger. Ram Ellie Madson shot a 44 and DMC’s Cece Sturdivant shot 47.
Other Ram golfers contributing to the team score were Mariah Block at 50, Kaitlyn McColley at 54, and Jordan Davis at 55. Madson, Davis and Block shot career bests, according to Ram coach Heath Telleen.
Telleen said 203 is one of the lowest team scores the Ram girls have carded in his four seasons as coach. “I was really happy with our scores tonight and I am excited to see what this team can accomplish as the season moves on,” he said.
